How We Built San Myshuno in The Sims 4 City Living BY GRANT RODIEK

Sul Sul! We’re delighted you decided to join us today for our quick, informal tour of San Myshuno, the new World in The Sims 4 City Living*Expansion Pack. Watch your step and let's get going!

San Myshuno was inspired first and foremost by diversity. We knew we wanted a diverse, vibrant, modern city where you might see people of Indian, Arab, Japanese, African, and other ethnicities. We wanted to create a colorful melting pot inspired by different cultural canvasses. We initially drew inspiration from Asian cities like Shanghai and Tokyo, but they were too intense with the lights, and felt a bit too focused on single cultural groups. Then, we looked to coastal cities like Vancouver, San Francisco, New York, and Sydney, as places known to host hugely distinct cultures in unique neighborhoods.
San Myshuno is divided into four neighborhoods inspired by different cultures and offer different activities, apartments, and festivals for your Sims. Let’s visit each quickly, shall we?
The Spice Market - A comfortable, old neighborhood marked by its distinct brownstone apartments and colorful mosaics. We were inspired by Indian colors and visual elements for this neighborhood. The Spice Market is the home of the Spice Festival, which is the perfect place to sample foods from different cultures (while also obliterating your Sim’s taste buds with spice!). There are some very affordable starter apartments here, and your Sims will certainly enjoy themselves in a pickup game of basketball, or spraying some graffiti with friends.
The Arts Quarter - Practically a sculpture itself, and is one of our more beautiful neighborhoods. Those who have been to San Francisco might recognize elements of the Yerba Buena Center across the street from the SF Museum of Modern Art. The art museum here in San Myshuno is really top notch, and aspiring musicians will seek their next tip here near the food stands. The Lantern Festival will pop up in the Arts Quarter from time to time, which is great, as it’s the perfect place for your Sims to view the fireworks!
The Fashion District - We're definitely moving up the economic ladder here, but it offers truly spectacular views and neighborhood entertainments! Be ready to pay a stiffer price in rent if your Sims move in here. The Fashion District and Uptown are both inspired by the high-tech high rises of cities like Tokyo and Shanghai. The Fashion District is the home of the lively (and sometimes unruly!) Planet Sing-Pop, where vocal hopefuls go to belt out the latest tunes with friends and significant others. When auditory atrocities aren’t pouring forth from the karaoke bar, Sims might wander onto the street itself to enjoy the peculiar sights of GeekCon or maybe even find love at the Romance Festival.
Uptown - The final district, and one which has a truly breathtaking view with some wonderful high-rise options for Sims who have the bankroll to spare. Uptown is the home of the gym & rooftop lounge, and it’s also the final destination for Sims who have risen to the top of their career and now wish to rise to the top of the skyline.
We’ve never made a world like San Myshuno. It’s jam packed with diverse and exciting people, new activities like festivals, and venues that’ll entertain Sims otherwise cramped in their small starter apartments. Your Sims will want to move to San Myshuno the second it’s open, which is this November!

The Sims 4 City Living is Coming Soon!

The Sims 4 City Living is set in the rich, diverse city of San Myshuno, a beautiful coastal city tucked up against the nearby mountains. (Awesome) You’ve never seen a city like this in The Sims! San Myshuno is packed with things to do and new people to see. Whether you're playing basketball in the Spice District or meeting with friends after work at the Karaoke Bar for a raucous good time, there are new experiences around every corner. - This sounds so frigging Awesome

Better yet, why not meet some friends and head to one of the new festivals? San Myshuno is full of dynamic street life, so whether you take a hot date to the Romance Festival, or geek out at Geekcon, there’s always something new to do. There are five different Festivals that can show up, giving you plenty to see from your apartment window.
Yay for festivals Return!!!!!

Speaking of apartments, your Sim will need to find one once they move into San Myshuno! Apartments bring with them an assortment of interesting characters and quirks. Unlike houses, you're more limited in what you can do (the landlord won't be happy with you knocking out walls and building new bathrooms), but there's a lot of gameplay found in the few hundred square feet of your Sim's new apartment.

But don't worry, not everyone who lives in the city is wanting for space. As you work your way up through one of the new careers (Politician, Critic, and Social Media), you can afford a stunning new penthouse on the top floor! Penthouses provide a totally different experience, and we can't wait to tell you more about them in the coming months.

We’ll be sharing so much more information in the near future. Before long, you’ll know everything there is to know about San Myshuno, apartments, Festivals, and more. Stay tuned and pack a small bag for the city. Your first apartment may be tiny!

The Sims 4 City Living releases worldwide for PC and Mac November 1, 2016!

Triple Boost Week!!!!

Call Jasmine Holiday via cell phone and await her arrival!!!

Once she comes knocking on the door, you can choose any of the following options:
• Ask About Triple Boost Week – This option will bring up a notification bubble with a brief summary of what this feature is about and how your Sims can use it.
• Request Boost – This option allows Sims to request either a Skill or Job/School Boost from Jasmine Holiday. Each Sim residing in a household is granted the ability to request a boost, and can change their selection as often as they’d like. Each Sim can only receive one type of boost at time. For example, changing from either boost will cancel out the current selection.
Each performance boost lasts for 6 game days, and will increase performance by triple the normal rate. Performance boosts can be requested by Sims aged Child through Elder.

Master All the Things! The Sims 4 Triple Boost Week: Skills and Careers is Live

Ever want to level all your Sims' Skills but they're all “I'm too tired to paint” or “I'm too sad to Exercise”? What about trying to climb that Career ladder but your Sim just... isn't feeling it? Well, clear your schedule for the next week, because The Sims 4™ Triple Boost Week: Skills and Careers is now live, free* for all players!
So, what does this mean? Simple: from August 22 at 10am PT until August 29 at 10am PT, your Sims can gain Skills at a whopping three timesthe usual rate, or gain a triple Job Performance Boost for base game Careers. All they'll need to do is head over to Jasmine Holiday (or call her on the phone) to get granted with seven in-game days of Skill or Career Boosts. You can do it as many times as you want during that period, giving your Sims plenty of time to reach the top of their Career, or Skill up enough to write the next great novel. You'll only be able to have one at a time, though - asking for a Skill Boost when you already have a Career boost will cancel the other one.
The Sims 4 Triple Boost Week: Skills and Careers is live right now, so grab some snacks and settle in; it’s time to make your Sim the master of everything!

DINE OUT RELEASE TRAILER

Dine Out Gameplay Features
  • Restaurants are the main feature of the Dine Out game pack (it's not a full-blown expansion but definitely offers value). Sims are of course able to visit restaurants in town and order food, but it's more interesting to own them from a gameplay standpoint. Thankfully, we can do both. The pack ships with several pre-built restaurants, and the gallery will undoubtedly populate with great creations from Simmers around the world. Pre-built restaurants your Sim can visit for a date, as part of a club with Get Together or for family night.
  • Own and Run Restaurants - The Sims 4 Dine Out will allow us to own and run restaurants. The whole system is fleshed out, giving us control over every aspect whether we have Sims present or not. That's right, we can schedule them to open at any time no matter where we are, and this results in being able to run a chain of restaurants and amass great wealth. You can own a small diner, a five-star restaurant that serves expensive food or both!
  • Fully Customizable Restaurants - the layout is up to you, you're required only to place a few stations. The decor, lighting, mood and floor plan are all fully customizable just as with building a house. Of course, you'll be able to share your creations through the gallery.
  • Manage Staff - Three new positions exist aside from you (manager) - host, waiter, and chef. Obviously your host will greet an seat guests, while the waiters take orders and clean up. Chefs will cook food for the guests, and all three of these positions have required skills to make them better at their jobs. Training employees will improve their ability to please your customers. They will, of course, develop skills naturally over time, but you can fork over cash to help them improve faster.
  • Please your Guests - Your service, the menu, pricing, it all factors into how your guests will view your restaurant. You can rank from 1 to 5 stars, and higher ranking establishments will see more guests arrive at any time of day. Of course, there are hours they are more likely to visit!
  • Customize Menu - Select from hundreds (literally) of drinks, appetizers, desserts, and main courses to define your restaurant's menu. You're not restricted and can choose your own style, along with the amount of profit you expect from each meal through a markup.
  • Customize Staff Uniforms - it's not yet clear if we can select the uniforms exactly, but Sims in the trailer use anything from flair vest to classy uniforms when serving food.
  • Choose Restaurant Perks - with success come perk points, which you can use to give boosts to the restaurant - both temporary and permanent. They range from adding extra waiters to making customers tip you or reducing ingredient costs.
  • Fine-dining Themed Objects - The trailer features some objects that are new, and it's obvious we can probably design restaurants from simple diners, to expensive fine-dining establishments. This is an exciting development for people who use the gallery, as I'm sure some amazing themed restaurants will pop up.
